I have 120 volts to the light kit but the lights will not come on.
The light kit works on my bench. All connections in the kit are fine. I've visually inspected them and ohmed.
There are no remote controls involved and there is are only two wires to the kit.
WTF?

This might be a dumb question, but have you tested the switch?

Yes. There is a verified 120 volts right there. I put down my meter and immediately hook up the light kit and it does not work.

So this is more or less the set up?

Did you check hot to ground or to neutral? Neutral could be the problem

This is the switch. The wiring in the box checks out fine.

The wiring in the box is like it was when installed. There IS 120v to the two wires going to the light kit.

ETA: Just looked at the manual for the switch and it's an in the wall remote, which explains why it's wired like it is.
BUT that doesnt change the fact that I've go 120v where I have it. I think i'm in the "I don't know what I don't" boat right now.

Well, that complicates things. My expertise has been exhausted.

Yes. It has one hot in and then out to fan and the lights on the switch work.

Forgetting the wall switch for a moment...  Is there a switch on the fan/light that is defective?

The fan should have 1 black, 1 white, 1 blue and a ground. Tie the blue and black together then to the black in the ceiling.

Eta: all these wires are under the canopy at the ceiling

There's only a black into the wall control and one black out to the fan.
The wall control is basically a wireless remote, it controls the hot to the fan with a wire and speed/lights wirelessly.
There is a receiver in the fan body that controls all functions.
There is no switch on the fan body.
I think I'll call the company....I'll post answer if I get one.

I understand, are you sure at the very top of the fan where it mountsays to the ceiling there isn't a loose blue wire come out of the fan itself? If there is put it with all the black wires.

Try a standard switch.  Even though you are measuring voltage at the fan, there may be no current.  This would happen if that is an illuminated switch.

Everyone has a stash of standard wall switches in their junk bin, right?

It does have a back lighting......
I do have a stash of wall switches but this thing has one black wire in and one out since it is wireless.
I've hung many "'ol school" fans but there's nothing to put on a switch.
I would rather have another run of wire than wireless.....it'd be fixed by now.
Tech support is working on it.

Have you tried testing on a different switch?

I had a dimmer switch that would turn on lights full power, and wouldn't dim.
Replaced it with a new switch and they now dim.

Not sure if this could be the same situation.

check the cannon plug that plugs the light kit to the fan....had more than 1 go bad right out of the box!

Some of the newer light kits have a "wattage limiter" in them that can go bad and make the lights not work.

Under the fan canopy should be a remote box, and that's where you are going to find your power

Blue is normally reserved for the lights
