I know just enough to get myself in trouble..lol

I can not get my wireless signal out to my shop, about 100+ feet away.

I do have a cable line  run, what can I do to get my internet out there?

Can I set up a second modem /wireless router ?

I don't need the best just to ease life a little.

thanks

Where is the base station in your house relative to the shop? Would a Wifi Range Extender suit your needs? If the base is on the far side of the house from the shop, just plug an extender in on the side closest to the shop.
Alternatively, if you have power out there, IP over Powerline is a good bet, then add a new base station out in the shop.

What Internet service provider do you have? Do you have cable Internet, satellite, or DSL? Do you own your modem or are you renting it from your provider?

My suggestions are pretty much the same as zercool. Where is the wireless router in you home located? If possible, move it as close to your shop as possible. If that still doesn't help or you can't/don't want to move your wireless router, you might try a Wifi range extender plugged into an outlet in your home as close to your shop as possible. Powerline ethernet adapters may also suit your needs.

If you are trying to bridge wireless between two buildings, do it right. Go buy this. Plug each end into your wireless routers in both buildings and mount them facing each other on the outside of your buildings.

I tried the IP over power line thingies.  They were less than stellar.  I gave up screwing with them and they sit unused and uninstalled.

#1 - wired connection if at all possible

#2 - wireless range extender

#3 - IP over power line

If you already have COAX cable ran out to your shop I would get some Ethernet-over-COAX adapters and just use it. I did that to hardwire network around my old apartment since it came with COAX drops in everyroom. I found some for cheap a few years ago, I'll post specs when I get home and take a look at them.

Can you run a CAT5e cable? I'd run it through some PVC and make sure you used Plenum. Then get two routers capable of running Tomato or Dd-WRT. Done!

Yes a wi-if extender *may* work as would a range extending antenna(s) but I haven't have very good luck with those.
