Part of our home is/was a mobile home. The outlets in 3 rooms are old and need replaced, total of 12 outlets IIRC. Not knowing mobile home outlet wiring was different then "normal", I just pulled a outlet from the wall to have a look. The back doesn't have screws where the wires attatch it has some goofy pinch clip things: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l225/purple85gt/outlet.jpg How do I convert this to the srew type? Make sure power is off to the circuit. Check it twice. Cut the lines and attach them to the four screws on a real outlet. Black to the brass colored screws on one side, whites to the silver screws on the other, pigtail the grounds and then attach the pigtail to the ground screw. You will also have to install a single gang device box to mount the receptacle. The HUD guides for mobile homes are the pits. They allow many methods that are NOT acceptable for permanent structures. |
