Never heard of this show but my Bro had it on DVD and told me about it after buying Generation Kill. Over there came out in 2005 about the Iraq war. Half way through the 1 and only season, Pretty damn good. I like it better than Generation Kill.

Who else has seen it?

I love Over There. I watched it on FX until they stopped showing it. One of these days, I'm going to buy it on DVD.

No offense but I thought it totally blew.

Pretty cool show.

The best thing about it is the theme song.
That song is fucking incredible.

Good show. Got it a couple years ago on DVD.

Song rocked, and was actually sung by the show's producer.

Yep! I love the song! I like how they started playing it at the end of the show before the credits started rolling. I even put it on my iPod. Like a previous member said, it's sang by the show's producer, Chris Gerolmo.

I thought it was OK.  Not great, but watchable.  The only episode I really couldn't stomach was the one where the Sgt. bedded down with the French bitch.  I did like how the U.S. forces were presented as unarguably the "good guys", and the terrorists were not presented simpathetically.

I'm sorry, I must have something crazy in my eye. Can you say that again?

I think he's saying that unlike most Hollywood today, in Over There it's just understood that the terrorists are bad guys and the Soldiers are the good guys. Not like Lions for Lambs or some other crap where everything is our fault.

I picked up the whole first season at Costco and enjoyed watching it, then was pissed when I found out that it the show was canceled.

Yes, that is exactly what I said (or thought I was saying).  Seemed pretty clear to me.  What did you not understand?  "Over There" presented our guys positively, and stayed (pretty much) away from the left-wing anti-American rants and Bush-bashing.  The insurgents were shown as murderous thugs and butchers, as they are in real life.

Wasn't the "half-insurgent" who continues to walk just a fucking HOOT?

Was really disappointed it ended after the 2nd season.

I watched the whole season again a couple of weeks ago. I really hate it only lasted one season.

I enjoyed it. Then I joined the military. I now realize how utterly ridiculous it was.

I have yet to see a single movie or Tv show about Iraq and Afghanistan that has any basis in reality.  It's a bit aggravating, makes them unwatchable, and really annoys you when you see utter crap like "the hurt locker" winning awards.

The Hurt Locker infuriates me. I'm tired of listening to my civilian friends who've never been in the military talk about how realistic it is. "It's the most accurate depiction of the war in Iraq yet," etc. etc. Gives me a headache. Worst part is, no matter how many holes I shoot into the movie, they still shrug their shoulders and say, "well, I enjoyed it." Makes me crazy.

I thought Hurt locker was so-so at best. Heard it was good but was let down.

I think Over There came out while I was in Iraq.  I saw bits and pieces of a couple of episodes.

Looked like some fake as fuck, gay, homosexual, faggotry to me.

I hear ya. About "Over There". Though I'm sure they wanted to show all sides of what goes on with people who are deployed, I think they could have left out the soap opera stuff with the spouses back in the US. Took me out of it.

I'm watching "Generation Kill" again. Liking it more the second time around. Loved Band of Brothers. Looking forward to checking out "The Pacific" when it comes out on Blue Ray.
