Never heard of this show but my Bro had it on DVD and told me about it after buying Generation Kill. Over there came out in 2005 about the Iraq war. Half way through the 1 and only season, Pretty damn good. I like it better than Generation Kill.
Who else has seen it? |

Pretty cool show. The best thing about it is the theme song. That song is fucking incredible. Yep! I love the song! I like how they started playing it at the end of the show before the credits started rolling. I even put it on my iPod. Like a previous member said, it's sang by the show's producer, Chris Gerolmo. |
| I thought it was OK. Not great, but watchable. The only episode I really couldn't stomach was the one where the Sgt. bedded down with the French bitch. I did like how the U.S. forces were presented as unarguably the "good guys", and the terrorists were not presented simpathetically. |

Can you say that again? |

I think he's saying that unlike most Hollywood today, in Over There it's just understood that the terrorists are bad guys and the Soldiers are the good guys. Not like Lions for Lambs or some other crap where everything is our fault. Yes, that is exactly what I said (or thought I was saying). Seemed pretty clear to me. What did you not understand? "Over There" presented our guys positively, and stayed (pretty much) away from the left-wing anti-American rants and Bush-bashing. The insurgents were shown as murderous thugs and butchers, as they are in real life. |

Was really disappointed it ended after the 2nd season. |
| The Hurt Locker infuriates me. I'm tired of listening to my civilian friends who've never been in the military talk about how realistic it is. "It's the most accurate depiction of the war in Iraq yet," etc. etc. Gives me a headache. Worst part is, no matter how many holes I shoot into the movie, they still shrug their shoulders and say, "well, I enjoyed it." Makes me crazy. |

I hear ya. About "Over There". Though I'm sure they wanted to show all sides of what goes on with people who are deployed, I think they could have left out the soap opera stuff with the spouses back in the US. Took me out of it.
I'm watching "Generation Kill" again. Liking it more the second time around. Loved Band of Brothers. Looking forward to checking out "The Pacific" when it comes out on Blue Ray. |
