I figured there was already a thread on this movie but I searched and didn't see anything.  Anyway, the girlfriend and I saw it last night and I was very disappointed.  It just didn't meet my expectations.  I was excited about seeing it considering Rob Zombie directed it but he really let me down.  It started off boring but I was hoping it would pick up steam and get better but it never did.  To me there was just a lot of random scenes that didn't make any sense.  I'm curious to see what others have to say about it.

I just came back from seeing it, i enjoyed it.  This may be the movie in the slasher/horror world that becomes the "9mm versus .45acp" movie.  I see myself as a immense fan of Rob Zombies movies and more importantly, a fan of brutal horror and slasher films.

He never intended the movies to be true remakes in the sense of just updating the actors and surroundings to be a "modern" movie.  He wanted to explore the psychological reasoning for Michael's killing/rage.  The first and now the second do this in bucket loads.

The ending left me wondering the unique possibilities Zombie setup for this series of films.  I do not like what modern horror movies have done to the genre of horror.  Old horror movies used to be wildly creative in their stories, gore ,nudity and "scariness".  The best movies left people shocked, frightened and feeling sleazy for watching it.  Look at a movie like Final Destination(the remake or whatever).  Is it creative? Sure.  Do they really scare the shit out you?  No(in my opinion), they are setup for shock factor and creating a buzz around your local high school/wherever teenagers hang out.  Another example was the recent remake of Friday the 13th, not scary and unique like the first series of films.  Buzz and shock inducing just like any of the other recent "horror" movies.  I like Rob Zombie for his creativeness and desire to bring horror back to it's gory, twisted and psychological roots. The entire movie was laced with scenes that drove the story of Michael and Laurie/"Angel's" tormented mental state.  Everything from the "White Horse" to Michael's killing scenes.

I will just say this:  If you appreciate horror for what it should be, see this movie.

If you want to see a "updated" version of Halloween: wait for MTV and Hollywood to cast some 20 somethings to look good, run around fucking with their clothes on and saying all the latest buzz words.

Maybe they'll make a movie about a "Twitter" killer that haunts coffeehouses, waits for you to post on "Twitter" before killing you in the most PG way possible and then steals your Mercedes that has your iPhone with all your contacts where he(better yet she) continues with the killing until some plucky chick manages to get a head shot while crying and shaking the whole time.

I understand not everyone likes every movie but the "self" professed fans of Rob Zombie and horror movies that don't at least appreciate the effort and applaud him for not making another " I know what you did last summer" are frankly full of shit.

I know this very line will cause flaming and immediate defense of said persons "immense" horror movie credentials but i mean what i said.

Rob Zombie gets what a horror/slasher film should be and will continue to get my support with his films.

Worst plot ever. I wish he'd get over throwing Sherri in EVERYTHING he makes.

I can agree with the Sherri part.  Shit is getting pretty old with him including her in everything.

Rob Zombies fumbling attempt at profiling a psychotic mass murderer translated into a painful experience for this member of the audience.

I felt zero sympathy for any of the victims of Michael Myers. In fact, I think it could be said that he was doing a public service.

I also wonder why every person in a Rob Zombie movie is a filthy biker type? Don't showers work in the world of Rob Zombie? Don't people paint their homes and have access to a Home Depot?

Made Dr. Lumis into a total dick, which I thought was a total 180 from the first film of Zombie's and the original series.

+1

Zombie is better suited to mindless brutality than psycho-thrillers. When he tries to play above his pay grade it's painfully obvious. David Fincher or Christopher Nolan he's not.

I thought his remake of Halloween was pretty good. I was wondering how Myers was going to come back from a point blank 357 shot to the head, but judging by the responses, I guess i'll just wait for the rental.

I feel the same way about the horror genre. That's why I enjoyed Rob Zombies Halloween so much. I felt House Of A Thousand Corpses was his B movie, The Devils Rejects his super gory extremely violent horror movie, and Halloween his masterpiece. Thanks for your detailed review. I was dismayed by all the negative responses, but now I'm going to see Halloween II with out fail this weekend.

Saw it tonight, and thought it sucked something fierce. I don't know what the fuck Zombie was thinking trying to make it "artsy" for lack of a better term.

The Halloween remake was excellent, but this one was just horrible.
