odd they have band of bros listed as silver (3rd best catagory), I had read a lot of people saying blu ray was worth it for that title itself.

I personally havent seen Band of Brothers on Bluray but im almost willing to bet the reason it is placed in that category is due to the film noise.

The film was shot intentionally with noise in order to give it an older more authentic WWII film feel. However, this noise draw away from sharp, crisp picture and vibrant colors, which are what the wow factor about bluray is.

^ just my guess, like is said i havent seen it on bluray actually.

I doubt the film grain is what marked it "down" as they understand that grain falls under "director's intent".  FWIW, the "silver" catagory still means that the PQ is amazing.

"Silver - Not as many HD POP effects, but a sharp image that feels real. Not quite Demo material but a quality picture which looks better than upconverted DVDs."

BoB is in the top 1/4 of the Silver category for PQ

Now for AQ, BoB is in the "Reference" category, which is above Tier 0.  The very best of the very best.

There is no doubt that Bob is a great choice to show people what Blu-ray is all about, but that doesn't mean that there aren't dozens if not 100 other films that will do that job just fine as well.  This doesn't mean that BoB on BRD doesn't rock, just that there are a lot of discs that rock just as well.

FWI - BoB is by far my favorite Blu, to watch and show off to company.
