I want to buy an iPod for my wife as a gift. What is the latest and greatest, highest capacity, largest screened version?
Are any particular models to be avoided? |

Does it necessarily have to be an Apple iPod?
I like this site: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/. You can do a spec comparison of up to 4 players. Plug your specs into that and see what else stacks up. I bet you'll find a cheaper and more compatible mp3 player than an iPod. |

I have always been a HUGE apple fan but i know some ppl arent.. I have 2 good friends that is a techno geeks that always put ipods down and said you could buy some other brand with more storage for a lot cheaper.. After each person went thru 3 or 4 other mp3 players, they both now own ipods and sing the praises of apple..
My wife and I have two gen 2 ipods and my wife is getting an new itouch for x-mas this year.. We have never had any problems with ours.. Good shopping Brian |

My daughter told me this is the one she probably wants - the iTouch or Touch. She said get the biggest they have. Is 32GB the top? She's worth it. It's a gift. I hope she enjoys it. |

You may check the apple store online.. right after turkey day they were offering a discount price, free shipping, and free engraving.. The price was $21 off for the smallest megabyte touch.. The apple store was also offering deep discounts on the now discontinued 1st generation touches though.. Im guessing the daughter would know the difference and is expecting the newest touch.. LOL good luck brian |

If you want to use iTunes to play anything on your PC/laptop/whatever it sucks up a shit-ton of processing power.
iTunes files that you buy don't readily export to other types of players, so sharing music to other devices is out of the question. iTunes Plus files are transportable to some other devices, but doing so is not as easy or convenient as they would lead you to believe. If you want to import movie files (and who wouldn't on a multimedia player?) you need a stand-alone converter, iTunes doesn't convert movie files. There are other devices out there that do the same thing as an iPod, but without the white case and lack of support and features. |
