So I bought a 42" Polaroid last friday at Walmart. I figured I couldn't go wrong for $598. Until I turned it on this morning. I have full audio but no, nada, zilch, picture. It's hooked up to the Magnavox BlueRay player they were selling for $128 with a HDMI cable. I'm guessing the tv has died? Already? |

Take it back and get your money back on it. Last year I won a 36" Polaroid LCD TV. I figured what the hell I can't complain it is free. Well I am glad it wasn't my money. While the TV had a decent picture I was never completely satisfied with the quality. The TV lasted all of one year before it died. It started out locking up, and you would have to cycle the power completely to reset it. Then after about a month of this it completely died. I turned it off to go somewhere, and when I got back it would not turn on. No it wasn't a surge problem. I am big time chicken little when it comes to surge protection and believe it is money well spent.
Well to the TV. It was out of warranty. I could sent it off to have it repaired but it would cost almost as much as a new one. I can buy the boards off Ebay and try to fix it myself, only to have it fail again. Read some of the online review from people that have had them 6 months to a year and you will change your mind. The Polaroid TVs are junk and failures waiting to happen. Save your money and buy something good. |

Wouldn't you know it. The 3 second thing didn't work. I'm about ready to leave the house for errands and guess I'll run out there and see what they'll do for me. And to make matters worse I can't for the life of me find the receipt. |
|
Quoted: Can you get to the config menu (with nothing but power plugged in)? A 'factory reset' button visible? Don't know. Couldn't see it even if I could. Can't find a "factory reset" button. But I did unplug the power and HDMI cable. Maybe a power down will "reset" or reboot something. Well that did a lot of good. I lost audio now. |

Well if anyone's going to get the lemon it'll be me. Everytime. Working on taking it back. Talked to the CSM and she gave me the info I needed to get a duplicate receipt and she didn't sound like it would be any problem returning the big pos boat anchor. However the only gal working in the Cash Office is on her lunch break. ![]() No wonder my horoscope this morning said I'd be crotchety old bastard by this evening.

Oh sure! While you guys were posting your excellent recommendations I was at Walmart getting a refund. I also bought a Phillips 42"LCD while there. Payed a bit extra. And as usual, despite the 1080p tags and such, once I get it home and set up and reading the owner's manual I find the model I bought was the only one in the series that isn't a 1080p. It's a 760p. I just never win. ![]() |

Take it back... again. |
| absolutely, if there were tags on the TV promoting 1080p take it right back. false advertising. if they say no, CAUSE A BIG FUCKINg SCENE. They'll give you whatever you want. make sure you've got good cables too. gold plated connectors, 1.3b capability. i got mine from medialine.com for like 8 bucks for 2. they work great. |

take it back, walmart sells alot of shitty brand tv's stick with samsung, sony, sharp, toshiba or vizio, in 1080p. You can probably score a better deal online, newegg is usually cheaper then any retail stores alot of the sets include free shipping and you don't have to pay sales tax.
