This new release stars Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley.  Granted this movie is not brilliant and authentic like "Eastern Promises" but it's a great action-thriller with awesome settings.  I highly recommend this movie.  You'll cringe at some of the stereotypes (Americans and Russians both) but that's not a big problem in enjoying this movie.

Writer and director Brad Anderson also directed ARFcom favorite "The Machinist" in case that helps push you to go see this movie!

I saw it last night and LOVED it. The scenery was incredible. The story was actually decent, and I felt that it had several notches of credibility over "Eastern Promises", the actors and extras were more authentic and the harsh landscape of Siberia lent a brutal and forbidding tone to the film.

Plus, it reminded me of the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." in some scenes. The aging and deteriorating buildings and forgotten villages were perfectly post-apocalyptic.

Great film, VERY beautiful photography, and well acted. Ben Kingsley is a master. His Russian was fluid and convincing, and he had just the right combination of kindly old man and menacing killer.

I'm a big fan of Emily Mortimer after seeing Redbelt, I'll try to catch this as well.

No, I've never played any games other than board games, but I'm very familiar with STALKER thanks to another thread that linked to a neat Ukrainian website featuring Airsofters on the premises.  Very cool.

Airsofters...

Is there anything they won't make lame?

To be in the Kiev province in real life, visiting the area around Chernobyl, would be fascinating!  I think one of the websites showed Airsofters there, IIRC.  That's cool in and of itself.
