What goes through people's minds when they take cool movie clips and make a "music video" out them by putting songs over the scenes? I can rarely, if ever, find a good clip from a movie that doesn't have some lame-ass song dubbed over it.

People are so freakin ghey to think they are making anything other than crap.

Could be they are Film Studies Students putting out what they have made.

A typical assignment is to Re-Dub the audio.  Friend of mine redid the audio on the final attack scene of the Death Star.  Space Craft = Race Cars sound.  Dialog was the same but they used different voices that they did with accents (Solo = Red Neck voice).

That's not exactly a scene.  More of an edited compilation set to music.

A while back I tried to find the video of the "Adama Maneuver" from Battlestar Galactica.  The highest quality clip I found had some shitty music dubbed in.

ETA:  I just tried to find it again.  AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!! Dozens and dozens of fucking music videos with no original to be found...

I've had the same problem trying to find the later scene with the Pegasus coming to the rescue.
