The thread on "Space Above & Beyond" got me thinking.........anyone else think that Babylon 5 was the BEST Sci-Fi on TV.....EVER? It had it all, great special FX, a good script, the only downside was you couldn't miss an episode because it was like a soap opera. Each show led into the next show.

Yes I have that series too.  I liked it as well mainly, after I got to watch them all in order, the fact that one thing that you saw that made no sense in one episode got explained the next season.  But that kind of sucked when you couldn't see them in order.

But I don't know about the best ever, but it was good.

i thought the first year was a bit slow, but probably needed to be to set the backdrop for the rest of the series,

and the last few episodes, after the big showdown, were weak,

overall a great series,

I was all about Farscape back then...couldn't get into B5, it moved a little to slow for me

Year 1 was OK.
Year 5 was anticlimactic.
Years 2, 3 and 4 were outstanding.
B5 was one of the very few TV shows that I made time to see when new.
Better than Star Trek, by far.

There is a good explaination for this.

THey got word that the show would be cancelled after season 4, so they decided to wrap up the story line.  Then the show was uncancelled.  Season 5 was just an attempt to fill out the five years.

B5 had a huge impact on ST too.
In the first year of ST:DS9, they milled about and the opening to the show had sterile, non action shots of the station.
After B5 came out with it's war story and shots of a space station in use, DS9 picked up the tempo.

I remember that,

and IIRC, they were actually picked up by a different network, to complete the series
(TNT?)

**PERSONALLY** I think it was the best Sci-fi TV series ever.

It is rare for me to get so involved in a show that I MUST see it every week. I was that wrapped up in B5.

To put it into perspective I can count on one hand the number of series I have felt this way for: Robotech, B5, certain plotlines of Buffy, and The Unit...

Loved the series, when it first came out i missed the last 2 episodes of season 4 Arghhhh ! Had to wait along time to roll around again in re-runs.

Personally I really liked the contining storyline concept of the series.

Enterprise tried the same thing without any luck .
