Am I the only one that is sick and tired of buying DVD's that come wrapped in plastic with a cardboard super glossy sleeve over them that depicts the exact same thing as the jewel case cover?!?

It's re-damn-diculous and a waste of money and paper!  I'm surprised Green Peace isn't all over this (not to sound like a looney leftist, but c'mon!

If they are gonna waste paper like that, at least give us something useful like the little booklets or inserts that listed the chapters and showed some of the conceptual artwork or something!

Blame the shoplifters.

I don't mind them so much since it gives me some official cover art to use for the backup disc I usually end up making (my niece and nephew have been very rough on my collection). I would like it more if they used different artwork, though.

What do shoplifters have to do with it?

it's harder to slip the DVD out of the case with the sleeve on it.

cardboard sleeves dont bother me, I kind of like 'em.  As for saving paper a lot of DVD's nowadays dont even have paper inserts, open up the case and there's nothing but a RFID tag and a DVD disc

That's one of things that pisses me off.  The sleave is useless to me.  Since it's the same artwork as the actual cover, I just throw it away.  But, the inserts were cool because they gave you a chapter reference.

it's harder to get into those damn cases than Ft. Knox!

shrink plastic covering you need a knife to get through
"security" tape on all 3 edges that is a PITA
little tabs that are a PITA

and then some way of securing the disk in the case that takes the disc to within 0.01 mm of breaking to get it out.
