Rented Trigger Effect the other night. ***SPOILER ALERT*** Good flick in describing what not to do. Kyle Machlachlan and Elisabeth Shue are a typical, successful, yuppy white couple (he drives a Volvo) living in the suburbs when suddenly..the lights go out until further notice! Many social commentaries: *The couple were initially anti-gun but eventually changed their minds. *Elisabeth Shue dumped their shotgun and ammo into the pool but it was later recovered. *Elisabeth Shue is smoking hot. *Kyle Machlachlan playing average joe professional was the anti-thesis of an arfcom commando; the man wasn't a fighter, wasn't proactive nor agressive....but he became that way at the end because he had to be. *Never have two dudes and a smoking hot chick in the same house under stressful conditions. *Elisabeth Shue is smoking hot. *Never addressed food issue in the movie though it was apparent that they had no electricity = no refrigeration. *Played down the chaos that would ensue such a SHTF event over a matter of days. *Never saw any National Guardsman or military. *Money would eventually become worthless and this base was touched as a $95 winchester 12 gauge became a $300 winchester 12 gauge (I think the MSRP is $300 normally). *The couple + male drinking buddy decide to go into town, and yep...its a mess but in reality it would have been the LA riots. They're lucky to have gotten out with their vehicle intact. *Dealt with looter/intruder in their home. Mac had an opportunity to pop a fly ball with the intruder's head but didn't. Intruder was shot by neighbor with bolt action rifle (could have been bad, neighbor shot directly 0 degrees into intruder and Mac and his buddy were on the other side. *Barely touched base on the interpersonal frictions that would have occured in the neighborhood. *Never addressed gangsters and thugs who would come out like roaches in a real SHTF event. *In the end it was worth watching just to gets some ideas or get you thinking, did I mention that Elisabeth Shue is hot? |
