[ARCHIVED THREAD] - HEAT

What are the specs of the guns that Kilmer and Deniro use in the big downtown shootout?  Other than the FA part, I think my next AR needs to be like that.  Looks like an A1 carry handle with a 11"ish barrel, collapsable stock (no idea what kind), and A2 flash hider.  I imagine it's some Colt LE model?

Did I say something wrong?  I'm just trying to figure out what exactly that little carbine is.  Sorry, but this is best pic I can get.

You are asking on the wrong site , this movie has never been talked about
by any member I know of here. How would we know this information.

+1 maybe try the movie forum, but it sounds like a pretty obscure film.  Good luck on your quest.

Are you guys for real?  I'm asking to have an AR identified and it gets shifted to a different section?

The M16's are 11.5s on A1 uppers. Pacino used a semi FNC. Sizemore used a Galil (I think).

Thank you good sir.  What about the stock and FH?

I was not aware this was such a common thread, didn't think it was such a big deal.  next time I'll be sure to start a chrome/moly?, FDE rifles, or MIAD grip thread instead.  They seem to be bigger successes.

Why would you ever want to use an A1 upper? I'm pretty sure the only reason they are configured that way was because they were older converted guns owned by the gun rental agency.

There was a thread about it a week or so ago, quite a few like them because they are simpler and lighter weight.  The AR I have now has enough rails for toys and such, the A1 upper is just classic.

It takes a minute or so to load. I am viewing it now.

There is also a gigantic HEAT discussion thread under Moves and Home Theaters (where we are now).

Correct.  Ever take an A1 and a A2 upper apart?  A2 is a royal PITA compared to the A1.
Plus, in a "need to shoot now" situation, I'd rather not be bothered with a screwed up windage knob due to the gun riding in a trunk.  I'll play with the windage when I need that 300 yard shot, not when I need minute-of-bad-guy from across the street.

It's been a long time since I have messed with an A2 sight since I sold my flat top carry handle a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure that the windage knob on mine was pretty solid and wouldn't get moved unless you wanted it to. I have never heard of this being a problem before, but what do I know. I cannot say that I ever needed to dismantle the sight either. Again, another non issue. How often does anybody need to take apart their rear sight piece by piece?

Eh I guess if you want a HEAT gun you want a HEAT gun. I'm just saying I don't think they necessarily had fixed carry handles with A1 sights for any real advantage. That's just the way they came from the rental place.

- A1/C7 upper receiver with brass deflector
- 4 position older model plastic CAR stock
- 11.5 light weight barrel
- carbine hand guards, not M4
