I'm in the market for a new reciever for my home theater, so I can connect my multiple HDMI sources up to my single HDMI input tv. My choices are: Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS Denon 2307 Onkyo 804 Harman Kardon AVR 645 Now my big question is: If the receiver is OFF, will the signall still pass through the receiver to the tv or will the receiver always have to be on in order to watch a dvd, hdtv from my cablebox or playstation 3? Next question is....which receiver would you choose and why? I currently have a Harman Kardon 630 and the sound is BIG. Music is crisp, clear and sounds amazing with my Aperion speakers. It also looks amazing. I think its nicer looking than just about everything out there and the looks are identical to the 645 I'm shopping for. Pioneer's Elite series is also nice looking and the Denon and Onkyo are "typical" looking with nothing to write home about. Since this is about sound and HDMI though, I'm less interested in looks and more interested in performance, unless I can have both! So what does the hive say? |
| I don't believe HDMI is able to pass through your receiver.. It is a digial signal that need an active switch to function, unlike a hard wired analog switch. If thr power is off on the receiver how does it know which input to pass through the output? If you want this Function check out ebay for HDMI switch and just run your audio through the receiver you have now and save the money. That is if you have a receiver that handles digital audio. |
