My abbreviated movie review :

Indiana Jones meets National Treasure with a dash of Outbreak
thrown in .

Not bad , and it's got guns .
I give it a 3 out of 5

Good, cause I bought the DVD Tuesday

Boy the previews for that looked REALLY bad, and I've been willing to watch some pretty bad action movies.

It would have been better if it was MORE like National Treasure......

Action is fairly good, but the story line lacked a bunch.  They spent way too much time on things other than the story.......

It's a popcorn flick.  Just check your reality gauge at the door, sit back with some popcorn, and enjoy the fiction.   It's really pretty fun as long as you don't try to take any of it seriously.

I watched it.
Having read the book, the movie blows.

+1

They were only allowed to say it was based off of the novel, they did not get support because of how badly they butchered it

Can anyone explain what is supposed to be so hot about Panelope Cruz?  Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that she's ugly or anything.  I just don't think that she's anything special.

Dirk Pitt books are great, this film didn't do the book justice (unlike Raise the Titanic).

Looks lame as all hell. Another movie where they are trying to recreate the success of the Indiana Jones franchise.

No, go with your first instinct... she's ugly. Looks like she has a mustache. Want more of a reason not to like her... watch Blow with Johnny Depp. She makes you want to knock her teeth through the backof her head... she's actually on par with Sharon Stone in Casino in that movie.

You guys talked me into "NAVY SEALS" with Charlie Sheen. Fool me once, shame on you...

Ooooh. That movie certainly fits the time period of desperately trying to make Charlie Sheen into an action hero. That movie was so lame I can't even begin to list the reasons. Looking back, it's an insult to anyone with half a brain that still enjoys mildly realistic action movies.

I give it 2.5 out of 4 stars.  The WHO doctor wasn't that pretty.  Needed female nudity.  Had some good action sequences like the Niger river boat chase scene.  Was good to see a CSA ironclad at the beginning

I liked how Mathew Mconaahdhdgfwyrdhay's sidekick couldn't hit squat with the AK at the well scene, but later was bullseyeing dynamite sticks while being thrown out of a moving vehicle.

Funny you should say that.  I was so disgusted by his shooting abilities at the well scene that I think I actually blurted out, "his shooting sucks," in the movie theater.  Even with an AK there's no excuse for missing those twenty yard shots.

Plus maybe because i didn't read the book. Books made into movies RARELY do justice to the same.

It is decent.  It was a "glad I waited for video title".  Hard to go to the theatre without nearly assaulting someone.

It was OK, hard to keep up with a Cussler novel, too much information.  This one stayed pretty close to the novel.

Did everyone catch what they did to the French guy at the end?
