Conan the Destroyer not as good as the first one too much humor and toned down violence.
Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
I liked them both a lot. |
Blessed be the LORD, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle. - Psalm 144:1
Animal Kingdom. It's available on Amazon Prime video
Annihilation great fx's but mediocre story and wooden acting.
The Black Panther

I've tried to see things from the liberal point of view ... but I'm just not flexible enough to get my head up my ass.
Blockers - a trio of bff girls make a pact to lose their virginity on prom night.
Their parents find out about it and try to stop it. It was funny The Strangers: Prey at Night - the second installment of the Strangers slasher/stalker film. A family stops by a vacant trailer park on a cross country road trip, where they are terrorized by 'the Strangers'. It was cheesy. Gringo - a mid level company exec gets caught up in his company's crooked dealings in Mexico, along with a kidnapping plot. This was a good, entertaining crime drama |

A Quiet Place - 4K w/ atmos. Overhyped, overrated. Wasn't impressed, twist at the end, but kinda predictable.

Stuff I learned from A-Team: 1)Always pity da fool 2)Carry wire cutters (you may need to defuse a bomb or start a car) 3)Never trust a crazy fool 4)Carry grenade launcher/machine guns in the van 5)Know how to weld 6)Love It When A Plan Comes Together
Annihilation - a group of women ( scientists, and former military )
are sent into a secret zone created after an alien lifeform lands on Earth. Is the zone changing Earth, or making them crazy? it was a decent sci fi, horror flick. stars Natalie Portman and Jennifer Jason Leigh |

Thin Ice
A weasel insurance salesman (played by Greg Kinnear) tries a get rich quick scheme by a home burglary. Everything goes wrong. It's a good crime drama Dealt A biographical film about a card magician (or mechanic, as he calls it), named Richard Turner, that is one of the most famous in the world. He achieved all of this after losing his sight in childhood. |

I thoroughly enjoyed it, surprisingly, since indie films aren’t normally my thing. |
Carved upon my stone,
My body lie, but still I roam... |

John Wick Chapter 2 Macon County Line and Return to Macon County.
John Wick Chapter 2 was good but felt like they borrowed some stuff from the first one MCL was great Max Baer JR did a pretty good job portraying the unhinged deputy out for blood and the ending was a surprise RTMC sucked the only thing saving that turd was all the authentic vintage cars displayed.

Sicario Day of the Solado great movie Lords Of Salem a pretty good take on Rosemary's Baby.

Red Hill a great modern Australian western.
Rake. Watched the end of the series and a little disappointed with the end but overall I really enjoyed it. Norsemen was also good.
Sicario: Day of the Soladado - the second Sicario movie, lots of violence as he tries to start a war with the cartels
BlacKkKlansman - a decent Spike Lee movie telling the story of a black policeman that infiltrates the KKK. Then at the end Lee goes off the political deep end by showing scenes from the Charlottesville march (that had nothing to do with the movie) Ant-man and the Wasp - a decent Marvel superhero movie with a good mix of humor and action Papillon - a decent remake of the original |

Borrowed the complete DVD set of Hill Street Blues. Great show and funny how some of the characters were just like some of the ones I worked with over the years.

Mission Impossible: Fallout
the story line is cliché, but it was a very well done action movie |

Just back from seeing They Shall Not Grow Old - Peter Jackson's (The Lord of the Rings) WW I documentary.
Only in theaters two days and I really wanted to catch it on the big screen - was worth it. There was a short after the movie where he went into detail on how the movie was made utilizing National Archives footage - really neat. |
Kill the Messenger. Insane anything like that likely happens, based on real story.
Bird Box - I knew the ending 15 mins. into it. Was still pretty good. Goldstone. Aussie Movie, I liked it. The Angel. Based on the real story, very very good. Extinction. Annihilation - reminded me of John Carpenter's The Thing. |

The Indiana Jones movies, since they were recently put on Netflix. Except for the new one.... we don't talk about the new one.

I carry with a round chambered because I don't want to spend the rest of my life racking the slide.
Hostiles un historically accurate preachy piece of shit modern western.

The Haunting of Hill House
a horror/suspense series on Netflix. About a family that moves into a haunted house to fix and flip it. The series consists of flashbacks about the now adult kids and their experiences living in the haunted house as kids and the effects of that on their lives and relationships. it was very creepy and well done, but I thought the ending was a little bit of a let down. |

Watched the "Jack Ryan" season on Amazon prime, which I thought was really good.
Saw "Vice" in the theater. Hard to believe that was Christian Bale playing Dick Cheney. |
I support World Peace......One carefully placed round at a time.
"Polar" on Netflix. Guy is an assassin about to retire and his company doesn't want to pay him his multi-million dollar pension, so they decide to take him out. Doesn't go as planned. Pretty damn good movie.

Just back from watching They Shall Not Grow Old.
½ out of If have the option of seeing the Making Of part of the movie, out of For starters, when the movie went to Color from B&W there was nearly a solid impact from the change. Who hasn't seen dozens if not hundreds of pictures from World War I? The switch humanizes everything that follows on in the movie. Yes, that really IS what a dead human looks like after a few days in the sun. Dead horses, too. Yes, those are real and not Hollyweird makeup wounds you see. Everyday life in the trenches, lice included. From joining up to being discharged. The only voices heard are from the people who were Actually there and managed to come back. Then the Making Of is purely the Icing of a Fantastic Cake. They show how the film was resurrected from horrible and damaged films to something incredible. Yes, those really ARE how those artillery pieces sound being loaded and fired. Finally, Peter Jackson shows three relatives that fought in the Great War. TLDR: If you only see One Movie this year, let it be They Shall Not Grow Old. |
