Guess the old thread went to the archives?  Either way...

It was better than I expected.  Fun to turn off the world for a little while.  Blatant hints/innuendos for the rest of the summer and what's to come next summer.  Stan Lee's standard cameo was one of his better ones.  Told a lot of story in a little time.

Good flick overall.  Decent stand alone, but it is definitely part of the larger story to come.

I'm still amazed at the talent they got for that movie.   Kenneth Branagh is one of my favorite Shakespearean actors and he gathered a very talented cast to work with.

I just got back from seeing it...Absolutely loved it!!!

Loved the screenplay,  acting,  sfx, and Natalie Portman...

I didn't care for the 3-D...for me, it didn't really add anything to the movie.

I can't wait for Captain America...and the Green Lantern.

Meh I really hated it. Not the Thor/Asgard parts just the whole human love story. This has been my 4th Natalie Portman movie that Ive felt should have been shaved down in time to exclude her from the movie.

Loved the Cameo when Thor is giving the S.H.I.E.L.D Agents the business!

At least someone in this thread thought there was a reason for Natalie Portman to be in this movie.

I never liked the Thor comic books, which I think had an effect on my experience.  Wasn't bad, wasn't worth the $18.  I don't think the 3D added anything either, I'd have preferred a normal 2D movie.

For a guy that was never into Thor as kid I still found it ok.
Like I told my brothers....for a movie about a guy with a hammer and a red cape for his gear it wasnt that bad.
Still, Spidy 2 and IronMan1 were far and away better films.

I liked it. It was a good flick. It could have potentially been better however.

Given the source material, I think it was as good as anyone could do it.
I read that Branaugh approached the story as a twist on Shakespeare's Henry V,
and in that respect it was very good.

The fact is,  in order to have The Avengers, this movie had to be made.

We have Iron Man, the Hulk, and Thor.  IM2 introduced Black Widow, Thor introduced Hawkeye,
and Captain America is coming up.

I'm guessing Hank and Janet Pym will be introduced in the The Avengers.

They rape you for 3D out there.  I only paid $11.

Prices on movies are getting to the point I may not be going to the theaters anymore - paid $6.75 for the 2D matinee yesterday.  IIRC there is a $3 up-charge for 3D around here.  Love the big screen, but prices are getting up there... don't know yet if I'll be seeing the rest of the Avengers movies at the theater.

I enjoyed the movie.  I was expecting another "meh" like Ironman 2.  Pleasantly surprised.  The humor was more situational than an attempt to force it in, which was refreshing.

They had better not screw The Avengers up, with the multi-year buildup they're doing!

Is this a movie you can take a 5 and 7 year old to see?

As soon as the hand stopped reaching for the rifle and picked up the bow I knew that's who we were about to see.

The teaser after the credits is basically just setting up the plot of the Avengers movie.

And there is nothing inappropriate for kids.  I took my eight-year old and he loved it.

What was the box at the end of Thor? This "unlimited power" they are talking about?
5/16/2011 6:40:58 AM EDT

The box at the end was the Cosmic Cube.  It is setting up the plot for Captain America, not the Avengers as stated before.  It is the object that the Red Skull is after in Captain America.  At least this is according to the Thor page on imdb.

I saw it with my father in Imax 3D.  We both really enjoyed it.

Natalie Portman is hot.

I've never been much of a Thor fan and have always loved Iron Man so that would be a tough act to beat.

It was awesome.  I loved the other world scenes.

One of the better comic book movies.  Not as good as the dark knight, but just as good as Iron Man 1 and 2.

Thanks. I had to look that up. Obviously, the guy with the bow was someone interesting, but not being a  comics geek, I didn't know who he was supposed to be.

Finally got around to seeing this and I thought it was pretty good.  I've never read any of the Thor comics, so I didn't really know what to expect going in, but I was pleased.

Wish I didn't know about the Jeremy Renner cameo beforehand, that would have been a neat surprise.

Anyone else think the movie needed less Natalie Portman and more Heimdall?  That guy seemed like a badass.

In the comics, Thor was a bad ass.  He didn't win every fight he fought (like against the Hulk) but he was immortal.  You could never killl him, he would just keep coming.

Boy!, sixth grade was a long time ago.

Saw it tonight and I thought it was terrible. I've never read comic books but I did like the Iron Man movies as well as the X-Men series. I thought Thor was boring and unenjoyable. I think the best part was when he spiked the coffee mug on the floor and demanded another round.
