Movie is supposed to release March 4, 2011. The plot looks interesting. screenrant
"A quintessential Cold War story, Apollo 18 casts light on the covert and undocumented lunar mission that officially “never happened.” Bekmambetov, hired by Russia to shoot a documentary about the Russian space station, recently came across footage in its space archives that bolsters the idea that an Apollo 18 mission did, in fact, take place, and reveals startling evidence of extraterrestrial life forms. This actual footage will be part of Apollo 18, a paranormal thriller that will interpolate fact and fiction."

There was a guy at work who was into all the conspiracy stuff. He showed me videos of alleged structures on the moon filmed by Apollo astronauts.
I'm sure he'll be excited to see this. It sounds like a pretty original concept for a movie, expecially in light of the drek Hollywood has been putting out. At this point, I'll add it to my list of movies to see. |
| For the record, there were supposed to be Apollo missions 18 through 20, but they were cancelled - nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/lunar/apollo_18_20.html |

[stupid niggling rant] The poster shows a claw foot print obviously not withing an environmental suit-how is something supposed to survive with out a suit in that environment? [/stupid niggling rant]. On another note, I believe it is Richard Hoagland's site that purports the moon structure pics. Unless they are made of glass, I don't see it. Not going to completely discount the possibility of structures on moon or Mars, but if so, I lean towards previous installments of us, and would need to see actual close up pics before I went that far-current pics are way too open to interpretation, as well as possible manipulation. Nick That's what bugged me too. OTOH, I can see it from a creative/art director's point of view. An "alien" spacesuit footprint might be mistaken for a robot's footprint etc. It may just be to give the idea, but does not represent anything that actually happens in the movie. (I hope) I could see making an alien footprint that still has "tread" that looks organic, yet still says "space suit", but that might be too subtle and get lost in the detail anyway. And a footprint that might be misconstrued as "robotic" could be seen as copying the execrable "Moontrap", or the opening of Transformers where the blurry Deceptecon ruins the Mars rover etc. |
| I wrote a short story called "Apollo 18", except it was a comedy about a mission that was executed so embarrassingly badly that NASA spent the rest of its budget paying the media to keep it quiet and couldn't afford the last two missions. I still think it's my best literary work. |

Don't go bashing Moontrap-there were some epic bewbies in that one! In moon grav, you don't need a bra! Nick |

The real Saturn V booster for the proposed Apollo 18 mission is on display at the Houston Space Center. I saw it on my vacation there in early November this year. After seeing it, I cursed Nixon for cancelling the mission after the hardware was already bought and paid for.

I still think it's my best literary work. Just the concept brought a smile to my face. Any way to read it? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Here it is. I wrote it about ten years ago, and made some changes recently. It's still a big rough in places, but I think it's funny. I used to be a huge Apollo nerd. |
