(wiki:)
Night Crossing is a 1981 Disney film starring John Hurt and Beau Bridges. The film is based on the true story of the Strelzyk and Wetzel families, who on September 16, 1979 escaped from East Germany to West Germany in a homemade hot air balloon during the days of the Berlin Wall when emigration to West Germany was strictly prohibited by the East German government.

This film made a tremendous impression on me when I was younger, I first viewed it on a rental VHS tape with my family a year or two after it's release. It is one of the films that had a part in shaping who I am today. It planted in me a fear of ever living under a totalitarian state and the ability of common people to pursue their dream of freedom contrary to the wishes of the state.

If you haven't seen it, I recommend that you do.
If you have seen it, what do remember and (how) did it affect you?

Cool, I'll have to look for it on Netflix.
