(Fellas, please no plot spoilers.)
This is the single most twisted revenge flick I have ever seen. It's on Netflix streaming, but don't bother.. it's dubbed from the original Korean version which you'll definitely want to see. Rent it instead. Be forewarned: there are prolonged scenes of graphic violence and torture. Perhaps even worse: the secrets uncovered on the protagonist's journey are very unsettling... this is a very very dark movie. |

Quoted: Greatest fight scene ever. Absolutely. My favorite part about it is that in less than 90 seconds everyone is laying around gasping for breath from the complete adrenaline dump and overexertion of a true fight. It isn't perfect (you can easily see a lot of pulled punches and kicks) but for a single-take fight scene it is bar none my favorite on film. I love this movie. |

Got it one night, started it, wife left, I never finished it... agreed on the disturbing part Never finished it? You sure you really made it to the disturbing part? Yeah, if you didn't see the end, the most disturbing plot points await... The extended fight scene was great. I liked how the protagonist kept getting knocked down: I don't care how good you are, a fight like that and you're going to get hurt. I thought they could have done a better job with their props though. |

While it did have one of the better endings I've seen, getting there was... boring, IMO. I own the DVD, but I doubt I'll ever watch it again. Agreed, but I'm pretty sure I'll watch it again. Parts of it were a little too drawn out, but the ending was incredible. Never saw it coming. I also liked the song that played when the end credits roll. |

After watching, i wondered: when will a US studio snatch this up and remake it. Then I remembered what it was about... it will never ever be made in the US (not without changing the plot it won't). Hollywood is trying real hard to remake it. The last I had heard was that it was a Dreamworks project to be directed by Steven Speilberg and staring Will Smith. Apparently that has fallen apart (thank the makers) but IMO there is far too much money to be made for hollywood to keep away. |
