I have exchanged mutual promises of prayer with a LDS whose former wife I represented in a custody case some years ago. As I came to understand afterward, my loss (and the Saint's winning custody of the boy) was the will of divine and merciful Providence. I am certain that the boy would have been ruined had I won - and I got my butt kicked by a UPS driver who was representing himself! For no particular reason it crossed my mind that that might be something that LDS don't do. When I read your response, I had an "I could've had a V8!"moment. If, at your own expense, you spend days at a time bestowing the gift of baptism on dead gentiles you never met, of course you take time to pray for live people you actually know. |
