Are any of you fellow Catholics interested in this?  I could post the readings for the upcoming Sunday mass, then we could discuss the passages, how they relate to each other, etc.

I would welcome everyone, Catholics and non-Catholics to participate, but would ask that those who simply want to try and tear down Catholic doctrine refrain from posting in the threads.  Those individuals could always start another thread if they wish.

I think it would be a good way to study the mass readings, and perhaps a good ecumenical exercise at times to show the similarities rather than the differences between Catholics and non-Catholics.

Any input, either positive or negative is appreciated. Any interest?  Suggestions?  Not appropriate for this forum?  What say you?

I was raised Catholic, but "got saved" and went Protestant.  Then I almost became a "Franciscan Friar of the Renewal."

I've got different ideas now.  I am somewhere in the middle.

Count me in...

Cool!

I'll just outline my thoughts and if anyone has any other ideas, please speak up.

I will post the readings by mid-week, that way we can get the discussion going, hopefully before Saturday mass.  I was thinking I'd post them here and have a link to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) website.  For those who are not Catholic, the readings are from the New American Bible; chapter and verses of each reading are given so you can look them up in the bible translation of your choice.

I'll try to get the discussion going when I can, but I'll be up front and let you all know that I am not a biblical scholar by any stretch!

I will also post here some links to the resources I use for my personal scripture study; if anyone has others, please share them.

USCCB - Daily Scripture Reflections (video)

St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology - Biblical Reflections for Mass Readings (audio)

St. Charles Borromeo - Bible Studies(text only)

Word on Fire - Fr. Robert Barron (audio)

Litteral's Christian Library - Bible Commentary, Church Fathers and Doctors (text)

Sunday Scripture Study (text)

Haydock's Bible Commentary

Of course, I don't expect everyone to read or listen to everything, nor do you need to to participate, but I wanted to share some resources that can be used to help.

OK, last week's scripture study was dismal.  Thank you to BattleBoar, as usual!

So, I need some ideas.  Do you want me to post some questions?  Post discussion materials from other websites?  Leave it alone and see where it goes?

I see we got 68 reads, but only 5 replies (and one was a tag!).  I understand people are busy and not everyone will be able to participate every time, but I'm getting a little down....

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.  I want to make this something we can all benefit from to deepen our understanding of scripture, so let me know what you all think.

I'm done whining now.

This.  I thought that the questions that you posted in the first thread were helpful.

As far as people not posting in the thread, I think that some people don't always have time to post.  I know people read it, so I guess its kinda like people who are quiet and do most of the listening in a real life Bible study.

I'm reading them and enjoying the discussion.  Hopefully I'll have something to contribute at some point.
