| Long story short...I have been having some heart problems with supraventricular tachycardia with a heart rate up to 187+. I found out today that I am being referred for pacemaker or ablation. I am only 28 years old and have a family to live for. Please keep me in your prayers! Thanks! |
Prayers inbound! My dad had that problem. He had a Radio Frequency Ablation (RF ablation) and his problem is gone now. Of course, he is 65, and not 28. I work in a Cath Lab, and we insert pacemakers and AICDs (Automatic Implantable Cardiac Defibrilators). If the Electrophysiologist you see wants to put a device in instead of trying the RF ablation first, you will most likely get an AICD, as a pacemaker won't do much good for someone with SVT. The pacemaker part is for people with slow heartbeats, bradycardia. The defibrilator part is for folks with too-fast heartbeats. If you have any questions or want to talk, just IM me. |
| My wife had heart surgery when she was 11 years old so relax you will be fine. The doctors you will deal with know there stuff and you will impressed with how well they know the heart and how fast you will recover. I wish you the best but you don't need it the people who will take care of you know there stuff. |
