I put it in a living relationship with Jesus --- who is a Person, risen and present, not a system or a religious formula. *The institution should serve that relationship, not replace it.

Everything we have as believers and followers of the Lord Jesus Christ is through His death, burial and resurrection. He is alive. This event changed my life. I personally called on the name of the Lord and He rescued me. Jesus is Lord!

My mom is having a hard go at it and is in the hospital again. She fell and fractured a rib. It's getting difficult caring for her because of some other very challenging circumstances like her mental state and the living conditions she chooses. Whoever reads this, I'm asking that you would pray with me that she can make good decisions for her health now. For a home health care or even a rehabilitation facility. This is all heavy and I'm leaning on Jesus; He is my burden bearer. I trust Him.

The heart of the issue is you are following the traditions of men by being outside the structure of the Catholic Church which is the keeper of the Apostolic traditions given to us by Jesus Christ Himself.  There is a reason all of the Apostolic Churches are nearly identical in doctrine and practice, because they have a single source.  

The One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church: 'Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle. ' - 2 Thessalonians 2:14

Every protestant denomination (Whose sole unifying characteristic is being Anti-Catholic): 'Beware lest any man cheat you by philosophy, and vain deceit; according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ: 'Colossians 2:8

You made the claim and have nothing to back it up?  Did you just come up with it out of thin air or are you just wishing really hard.

Any of you that reject organized religion, specifically that of the true God worshipped and defended by the Church Christ founded, are going to have to give up every book of the New Testament (except maybe the four Gospels); they are by their most basic identity authoritative letters of a functioning hierarchical Church, aside from Acts which is the earliest workings of said Church.

The first three "popes" are in the Bible actually and the Apostle Saint John was still living while Clement was the Bishop of Rome, the church in Corinth sent for help from him during this time and we have his letter back to them.

Brother, I'd sincerely ask for you to consider, for yourself, more deeply the revelation of who He is. He wants you to know Him.

Oh lol,
Other then what Jesus said, which the Gospel writers wrote down. Because Jesus is telling people he's the Messiah.

Acts thru Revelation were written to teach what the Christian life is like and how to live it.
Now show me Scripture where anyone said they are actually eating his flesh.

To keep this brief, I started reading the Bible, and the Holy Spirit thru God's Word spoke to me.
The Words of Jesus leaped off the pages, and I had my revelation of who Jesus was, The Sod of God.

The same revelation that Peter had, Matt 16: 16-17, Paul had on the road to Damascus, Ethiopian Eunech, Blind man in the temple.
Others who since then "Believed" up to this day, and not in Scripture

Changed my life and walked away from all the sin of my past, I have a new life in Christ.
As far as healings, I used to have problems with my back causing extreme pain that I could not walk.
Went to the altar one day at church and asked to be healed of this.
No pain since then, that was about 20 yrs ago.
Alcohol and nicotine, gone in a moment.

Spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit are not something to brag about ,
I'll leave you guessing about that.

Thank you for your testimony! Mine,  too, is similar, I had an encounter with the living God, and that when I called out to Him. Literally, I cried out "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" ...
He rescued me! The Holy Spirit ministered to me in that very moment. I will never be the same. I've encountered God in a personal way many times since. I'm professing to you and everyone I can that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
We walk by faith, not by sight. My experience/ encounter is what Paul the Lord's Apostle preached:

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, ...

I can tell you the Holy Spirit was there!

This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.

My identity is in Christ. I identify with His death, burial and resurrection. He was raised on the third day, Jesus is Lord.

Some miracles actually do happen in those places. My friend's wife wouldn't say much, except that she's able to have children now. She's had four with a fifth on the way. They come into full Communion with the Bishop of Rome next week.

Private miracles are wonderful. Our God can touch the lives of anyone at any point of their faith, or lack there of, with his grace.

I was asking about verifiable miracles his church produced.  Some would call them signs and wonders.  The Apostles/Church produced them. The Church has had them from the beginning. Visions of Christ seen by whole armies, Marian apparitions seen by tens of thousands, Eucharistic miracles that appear for no other reason than to reveal the true body of Christ.  

I already know the answer. His heterodox group hasn’t. There are no signs that his denomination is anything but disordered.

Instead of tilting at things that aren't even there or the cause of the problems you have, identify the real problems, and deal with them.

Organized religion is not bad or wrong. People doing organized religion can and often do it wrong and there are bad consquences.

Because we live in a corrupted world this means you'll never find the group to worship with that perfectly fits your *needs* let alone desires.

Find a church that is run by people who believe Christ died for their sins and made them right with God, and that the bible is God's word and the truth and the standard that everything else is measured by.  Without those two, no matter what else, the place is not a christian church.

With them, you have a possible candidate.

If you love God, you will want to make much of him to other humans and share doing that with others that have the same love. It will be a desire that never dies all the way out in you.  We were meant to worship God and make much of him corporately, together.

This is sort of like being a fan of a given thing.  You'll want to join with others and talk about it and how it's cool and etc., and how much or how little you "make of it" is based on how valuable it is to you.

By definition, there's nothing more valuable than God - and the group worshipping him should worship him as if that's true. IE if you think something is sober and weighty and important,  you don't play a kazoo band to make music about it.

I think you’re having trouble differentiating between supposed personal revelation and verifiable public miracles.  

I have no way of identifying your healing as occurring from a divine source and not just some sort of happy coincidence. Likewise I certainly can’t identify “quitting nicotine” as anything other than something even unbelievers do.

If ten thousand saw Queen Mary and she perform miracles at the same time, and had recorded witnesses attesting to those signs and wonders, then yes. Your church has nothing like those divine signs pointing to His Church.

Thinking about the thread discussion again this morning. I've gathered these key takeaways for you to remember and to consider.  

Jesus gives a direct personal invitation. The call is “Come to Me,” not “Join an organization.”

Becoming a child of God happens by receiving and believing in Jesus personally.

Salvation and relationship with God are a free gift received by faith, not earned or mediated by religious works, membership, or organizational affiliation.

Jesus as the chief cornerstone reinforces that the true, lasting connection to God is founded directly on Him personally, not on any human organization, institution, or “builders” of religion.

In Scripture, the cornerstone is the critical foundational stone that determines the alignment, stability, and unity of an entire building. Believing in the cornerstone is what matters.

The foundation is Jesus Himself, not an organization.

The “building” (God’s household / spiritual house / holy temple) is constructed on Christ as the cornerstone. Believers are living stones joined to Him. The connection begins and is held together by personal faith in and coming to Jesus, not by joining a particular religious structure.

Human “builders” (religious leaders and systems) often reject Him.
The very people who claimed to represent God rejected the true cornerstone. Jesus and the apostles applied this directly to the religious authorities of their day (Matthew 21:42; Acts 4:11). This undercuts any claim that connection to God requires submission to an organized religious hierarchy that may itself reject or sideline Christ.

He who believes in Him will not be disappointed (1 Peter 2:6). Personal trust in Jesus. Those who believe find Him precious; those who reject Him stumble. Organized religion is secondary and can become a stumbling block if it replaces or obscures this direct faith.

The true temple is spiritual and made of people joined to Christ.
It is not a physical building, denomination, or institutional system. Believers are being built together into a dwelling of God by the Spirit, through their individual (living stones) connection to the cornerstone.

Pay attention here:
Every born again believer and follower of the Lord Jesus Christ is the body of Christ.

Yes, you can, have a real personal relationship with the living God. You can know Him.

Jesus is the Word of God, He is Faithful and True.

Ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Wait on Him in faith, listen to hear His voice.

How do you receive anything from God? Don't you want to know Him for yourself?

You bring this up constantly, but I don't recall anyone ever saying anything remotely like they are replacing a personal relationship with Jesus with these other things.  Going to church is is part of getting closer to Jesus, not of replacing him with church.  

I just don't understand your reasoning. Those that DO NOT go to church are going to have a tougher time growing a personal relationship with Jesus.

This "organization" people go to or join is where there hear and learn about Jesus so they can develop the personal relationship.  Again, I do not understand your reasoning for rejecting going to the very place that preaches the Gospel to help bring people closer to God .

I get it/ hear exactly what you are saying.

The Holy Spirit is a person. He indwells all believers. The Holy Spirit testifies to who Jesus is.


He will be with you always! At home, in your car, on your job, and while you're sleeping (He doesn't need sleep). He comforts us and He empowers us to be witnesses for Jesus the Son of God. You can hear His voice. He speaks to us.

Without Him you are lost.

There are other versions as well.  The two I posted are in my little book of prayers and I like them. My Missal has 5 before Communion prayers and 8 after Communion prayers to choose from or add. I'm sure there are others too. All of these are optional extras that can be said in addition to the prayers already said as part of the Mass.  The Sunday choir usually chooses hymns that are prayers, often in Latin, for Communion and some join in singing the prayers.  I don't think there is any limit to before and after Communion prayers.  After receiving as I walk back to the pew I silently say, "Thank you Jesus for letting me receive Your Body and Blood, Soul, and Divinity."  

Another option shown in the Roman Missal are two before Communion prayers, one of which"the Priest says quietly" before receiving. You can say them as well.

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, who, by the will of the Father and the work of the Holy Spirit,
through your Death gave life to the world, free me by this, your most holy Body and Blood,
from all my sins and from every evil; keep me always faithful to your commandments,
and never let me be parted from you."

and/or

   "May the receiving of your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ,
not bring me to judgment and condemnation,
but through your loving mercy be for me protection in mind and body and a healing remedy."

At the end of the Communion Rite, as the priest is abluting the chalice and paten, he prays:

"What has passed our lips as food, O Lord, may we possess in purity of heart, that what has been given to us in time may be our healing for eternity."

I think it likely that if we have these two prayers, that they originated (at least to a degree) from Catholicism.
