That's pretty awesome.

My wife's uncle was in it, but I didn't even know until he died.

But. I guess I'm overly sentimental to history and think it would be "cool" for people in Parish communities to have the opportunity to be knighted into a thousand year old organization with international reach.
See my signature mate.

Almost as awesome as his avatar. Gotta be one of the top 5 here.

Seen them, scratching my head about why they thought to change to them. I wasn't a huge fan of the feathered chapeau, but the new one almost looks like an Army uniform and aren't very "ceremonial" looking. Most of the 4th degree guys aren't happy.

I know our parish couldn't do without these men. I used to be more involved but just haven't had the time.

Zhukov, have you seen the new uniforms?

Anderson just came out with a FAQ about it. Swords stay and they're still claiming that had input saying younger guys didn't want the old uniform.

Online I saw a post that said, "This looks like what a 60 year old would think a 20 year old would want to wear."

I think the feathers were the reason Mr. AF will NOT go to 4th degree, that and the requirement of any kind of tie kind of knocks that level out.
But here is the new look. It does look militant and not ceremonial.

My major problem is with the sport coat. That part looks old dude, and not militant.

A jacket that buttoned up higher, maybe with epaulets or something, would've looked more "military" if that's what they were going for.

If the KoC are an American organization, I'd go with something like WWI high neck tunic with a Montana peak Campaign hat and a tomahawk instead of a sword.

Or, WWII Pinks and Greens.

So, based on today I guess Eric Shinseki is a knight?

Seriously though, f*** Shinseki.

Are the Knights doing away with swords?  That's the whole reason I was going to join.  Not a ceremonial one though--a crusader sword.

I congratulate and welcome all participation in parish life. I believe that a lot of good is done by K of C members.

wet blanket warning

I personally have not joined because I have reservations about the K of C stance on immigration, in particular the 2006 Resolution on U.S. Immigration having been informally 'expanded' so as to make no distinction between legal and illegal immigration. I base that opinion on statements published in our diocesan newspaper. I will happily stand corrected if I have misjudged this. I share similar concerns about Catholic Charities.

Your concerns are not your own.

That said, K of C DOES do good and important work, and I'm Jesuit educated enough to see the value of such a stand being modified internally to the organization.
