Took another small step toward becoming a deacon today. I was allowed to serve in the altar as an acolyte today. My friend Father Mike serves at a Serbian Orthodox parish from time to time and he needed help today si I was asked to help out. Awesome experience. I was both humbled and terrified.
Great day today. |
| Congrats! You're in my diocese. Have you started the diocesan late vocations program yet? It used to be just a Chicago Deanery program for late vocations deacons, but then the late Archbishop Job wanted trained catechists, so the program was opened to anyone, including woman. I graduated from the program in 2012 and have my catechists' certicate (2nd woman to graduate). Right after I finished, it was changed to a distance education model with some local classes. I took part of a Biblical Greek class last year via Google Hangouts, which works surprisingly well. |

I've been quietly considering becoming a Deacon. Knowing myself and my sins, I can't help but imagining Christ laughing himself hoarse on the idea, but there it is.
Not sure how well a married guy making a pretty decent living would square with being a deacon, either...
