I'm in the market for a used pickup, probably between the year of 2003 and 2006. I've been leaning towards Fords, but I've read alot about F150's having blown spark plugs. How are the GMC and Chevy trucks from these years? I've already ruled out Dodge of which I've owned 2 and won't own another. I'm also considering the Tundra, but they seem pricey and harder to come by.

What should I be looking at?

The Fords that have the spark plug problems are the 2 valve 5.4 liter engines. The newer ones dont do that. The Chevys are a good choice. As far as what to look for its like buying any other used vehicle. Check all the basics, look at the under side and if a owner can show proof of maintenance it a plus.

There is a reason Tundras of that vintage are hard to come by.

If you're looking for a 1/2 ton, not a better truck out there than the Tundra. You will not regret the higher original price. 3/4 ton up Dodge or Chevy up to 2007.
