Any Suggestions?
Thanks! |
Something along these lines costs around $80 or less, and they have a little more function than just reading and clearing codes. They are very fast and simple, sometimes I grab this tool over my $5K scanner, especially when I just need to check a code or OBDII Readiness Monitors for NYS Inspections. CODE READER |
| I don't have the model or a link, but I had a cheapie from harbor freight that worked well enough, worked well just to read and clear codes, no troubleshooting capabilities of course like some of the more expensive scantools. Used it on my 99 Trans Am that had a bad cat, would throw the code once a week or so until I got around to replacing it... Think they are normally around $50, got mine on sale I believe for around $30 |

A tech I used to work with found some cables and software that you could install in a laptop computer and you could access codes and troubleshooting tables. It would also show engine running data.
He said it worked well. He even found software to work with his Daihatsu orphan car. I don't remember the name but he found it on the internet. It wasn't too expensive either. My 2 cents. |

Quoted: Quoted: What kind of vehicle do you have? Chrysler vehicles will give you the code without a code reader. They will? What vehicle and year? Since the early 90's. turn the key on and off 3 times and stop in the on position(don't start it) and the code will flash on dash with a pinging noise. Count the blipping light and pings will give you a code. 55 is no trouble code. I have a 05 liberty and it will read the code out in led on the bottom of the speedometer. |
