Replaced all 4 o2 sensors a few weeks ago. Truck has been running great since.
Last night same problem popped up. sudden very sluggish acceleration. Check engine light comes on. Had the code read and it comes up O2 sensor.. Bank 1 Sensor 1.
Quesion is... is this the upstream on the left or right side? Don't want to shellout for both sensors.

Thanks

Year, make, model of vehicle, what engine, and what was your code specifically?

1-1 is always upstream, but bank one is different sides on different vehicles.  Passenger's side/firewall side on a Ford, driver's side/front side on GM, etc.

And O2 sensors will very rarely if ever affect the running quality of a vehicle.  Just sayin'.

Can't believe I left all that info out.
Chevy Z71  4x4. 350ci auto trans. When I changed sensors last time it solved the problem I was having. I talked a guy at the dealer and he said my spark plugs were probably really aked also. I can't remeber when I changed them either.
Will change them out when I change the sensor. The electrodes are probably down to nothing by now.

1-1 on a Chevrolet is the upstream on the driver's side.

Code might be irrelevant, heres is my story..Sluggish performance like it was lacking gas, it came and go and had CEL codes..

Mine 1998 tahoe same specs  had O2 sensor codes turned out to be a fuel pump after spending $600 and 4 different auto repair centers later  everything from map sensors, o2 sensors, MAF sensor, plugs, wires, catalytic converter  testing,, fuel pressure was fine, and some other stuff i cant remember I said "its gottas be the pump there is nothing else" and it was..It was replaced just 2000 miles before problems showed so everyione eliminated it, (crappy airtex pumps!)..

Check fuel filter also first 10 min/$10 to replace..Sometimes the codes being thrown out are do to problems with other systems not alowing vehicle to perform the way it should causing false codes lean or rich mixtures and computer trying to compensate for it.
..
Tell us how the problem starts such (while driving xx miles ) also what fixes it (turning off engine) ect.. or does it go away itself how long problem last..This might help diagnose the problem..

Turning off the engine helps for a bit. The problem does reoccur. I haven't driven it since last night when it happened again. I'm out of town.
I had to replace the fuel pump about 2 yrs or so ago. The harness was replaced with it. I will most likely replace the sensor since I had just replaced it last week. It was a new Bosch sensor. I will just take it back and get a new one. I will replace the spark plugs also. I know I have gaffed that off for a long time. They have got to be fouled beyond recognition by now.

Mine did the same thing ran fine for at first 50 miles no problems seemed to lack gas, shut off for a few second ran fine then recoocured everytime we drove it..Soon i was shutting it down on 5-6 times on a 20 mile trip hwy to merge onto the onramp....
I would check fuel pressure on it also when its running fine, and when its acting up if possible.

Good luck I know these gremlins can be a pain, esp. for saturday shadetree mechanics like me. Whatever it is please post back to see if any of guesses might have been it

Hmm. Did it to me again on the way to work his morning. Got on the on ramp and stared to accelerate. Wouldn't get above 1000rpm. Seemed starved for fuel. Pulledover and switched it off and let it sit for a minute or 2. Cranked back and ran just fine till I started to pull a long hill then it sarted to bog down just a little. Seemed like it wasn't getting the fule it needed.
Leaning toward a fuel pump problem. Replaced it about 2 or 3 years ago though.
