Down...

Yep my driver's window is stuck and unfortunately it's down.  I'm not going to have time to fix it until this weekend and it's supposed to rain.

Any suggestions on how to get it up for now?

Take the door panel off, try and force it closed.  Other than that, a plastic bag and the old duct tape.

When that happened to me it turned out the power lift assembly was shot. Replacement part was $700

Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping those weren't my only options xince I already tried option 1 with no succes.

And PBIR I think its just the motor so it should be about $120 if I do it. I hope thats all it is.  For $700 I can get the whole door at a junk yard.

I assume you have a meter and have checked to make sure you are getting power through the switch to the motor.

If I need to get a stuck window back up until parts arrive I press the switch while banging on the door panel near the motor. This usually works. If not...time to pull the panel and do it another way.

Take the door panel off.  If you can't push the window up, try working the cable off the pulley on the regulator.  You will have to tape the window in the up position if you do take the cable off the pulley.  (This is assuming your window is pulled up and down by cables.)

Try giving the window some assistance.

Have someone use the up switch and you sandwich the window between both hands and use some up force.

If it goes up, at least the window will be in the up position.

Goood luck!

Do this before you take anything apart. Most of the time it will get the motor working enough to get the window up.

Its surprising how often that works.

What kind of vehicle is it?

Most of the newer cars have bolts that attatch the glass to the regulator/motor assembly. Unscrew the bolts and raise the glass. If it's a older car that is riveted...it will take a little more work..
