| Lets say that you rebuild a SBC for a street rod/hot rod project, but it ends up taking 3-4 years before you get the engine into the project. Is the original build ok sitting for that long, or would you need to take the engine apart and replace gaskets, bearings, etc before firing it up for the first time? |
| Invest in an engine crate/bag. Use lots of oil in storage, I would store with heads off so that you can spray oil in the cylinders. I would also crank over once a month and re oil everything. It will be fine, When it's time to drop in just prime engine with oil and fire it up. I stored a 440 for over a year and it was like new when it was time to drop in. |
