I have a 95 F150 4wd.  I picked it up cheap, and the more and more I look at it, I can see why I gave so little for it.

Recently the front dif started making noise on and off when the hubs are locked in.  Is this most likely  the spider gears?  I have done a gear setup on my other F150 (2wd), but I don't care to spend the time and money on another dif for this truck.

However, if it is most likely the spider gears, I would be tempted to replace them with just a lunchbox type locker and keep driving it.  I haven't taken too close of a look at this dif, but it appears that I have to take the whole thing out of the back side of it, and that I can't just inspect it with a cover like you can the rear end.

What is a good F150 off road forum?

I'll probably end up just getting rid of it, I really wanted a Bronco or Jeep XJ and not another truck, but it was only $600.

Are you sure it isnt the u joints?
In 25 years of messing with cars and trucks, never heard of a spider gear going out.

Look first at your hubs and axle shafts.  Strikes me as a bearing or u-joint.

I assume you have a floor shifter for 2/4H/4L.   See if you can isolate the noise by operating with the hubs locked in 2wd and hubs unlocked in 4wd.

Eliminate all else before diving into the diff.  I've found from personal experience that taking the cover off that TTB axle is a nightmare.

Ford-trucks.com Ford truck enthusiast is a pretty good website.

That should have the TTB axle, so you have plenty of u-joints to check out.  If it has manual hubs, you can put it 4hi, leave the hubs unlocked and spin the diff.  Or you can jack up the front end, lock up the hubs and spin the tires to listen for the noise.

Outboard Ujoint on driver side.  I really need to get these small issues resolved so I can get into modding this thing!

Hell, you got more than $600 in parts.
The fact that they're all assembled in to a truck is gravy

hmmm...I replaced an entire carrier last week...the spiders destructed and did some collateral  damage.

neutral drops are bad news.
