| Assuming that it is not under warranty, and you want to do it yourself, get at least a basic service manual. Changing out bearings is not hard, but if you have never done it before, you will want to have pics and instructions. Also the specs for pre-loading the bearings is very important for long service life of the bearings. |

If you do this, you will want to know the torque values for the bolts removed and the pre-load specs for the bearings/spindle nut. From what you said, the bearings are toast. Should not be any grinding noises. |

Milage? Have you checked the brake pads to make sure they have friction material left and are not griding on the base plate? If they are good then I also would suspect the wheel bearing. 80k.... breaks look fine Check the inner pad, the outer can look fine but the inner can be down to the rivets. |
