I have a 2001 2wd chevy s-10 automatic with the 2.2 4cyl. My voltage gauge is dipping to around 12v at stop signs and I am hearing a whirring noise. When I start to get going, sometimes i am getting hesitation, but once I get going, the voltage is getting up past 14 again. My first thought is alternator. I am at work and I will head to autozone when I get out and get it checked. Anything else it could be? Edited: forgot to add, only 61,000 on the clock |

I agree, sounds like an alternator biting the dust. GM vehicles for whatever reason are finicky about electronics, don't skimp here. It won't be cheap, but I strongly recommend an AC Delco part. Most anything else, I can about guarantee you're going to have to replace again within a year, if not sooner. ETA - And don't forget to test your battery and charge/replace it if necessary. A weak/bad battery can overtax and damage an alternator as well. |
