Im pretty sure I can, but wanted another opinion. I have run synthetic in my car since I had it, will anything be hurt if I switch to conventional? |
|
Conventional doesn't last as long nor offer the protection benefits that synthetic has, especially on a gas motor. Sure, it seems cheaper, but when you're only changing it every 10-15k miles, the synthetic is the way to go, but I would only recommend doing that if you do oil analysis with a qualified lab like Blackstone (kinda expensive), Caterpillar, or John Deere. |
Why would you want to switch to dino when you've been using synthetic all along? Every engine I've ever used Mobil1 in has been completely trouble free. Good synthetic oil is cheap engine insurance. |
|
Im just tired of spending $35+ on supplies when I can spend $10-15 on dino oil. Im going to be changing my oil every 3k anyway. does it really make that much of a difference if they both get changed every 3k? I know synthetic is supposed to be able to go longer, but I never do. |
No difference at all @ 3K miles. |

Modern engines oil just fine. Unless you are SEVERELY abusing the vehicle, it's turbocharged, and/or the manufacturer requires it, you'll probably never see any benefits from synthetic motor oil. Switching to synthetic and then not changing your oil for 15,000 miles might hurt the engine. |
