Looking to buy a new 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT for $35,000. I haven't been into cars since high school when I had my last Mustang. What do you think about them? Are they worth the money? Anywhere I can find a good review about them?

If you dig the Shelby badging and trim, by all means, get it.  It is a really cool looking car...but performance wise, not much more than a regular old Mustang GT.

I think its only...like what... .8 of a second faster in the 1/4...That's about it, Compared to a stock GT.

Too heavy to perform like it should.

All it is is a Mustang GT with a short throw shifter and a 3.55 rear end (which is an option in the GT).

Get yourself a regular Mustang GT, save some money and put it towards parts you really want.

Not worth it, even though they do look cool.

BTW, the sticker on those things around here is like 32.  35= you're overpaying.

If you're gonna get a "fancy mustang GT", get a new Bullitt.

Those things are pretty damn badass looking, and atleast come with a 3.73 rear end.

You are paying for non functional plastic. Boy racer crap.
Save 7K and get a GT or spend some big bucks and get the real Shelby.

Yeah, I'd get the regular GT, take the price difference and use it to slap a supercharger on there.  Bam, there's 400+ rear wheel HP

All that money and they're still not color matching the mirrors.  That alone makes a car look cheap.

I've probably got around 35k into mine including the price of the car and will be pushing around 500 rwhp.  Could probably push much more power but how much can you really use on the street?

I use about 200rwhp above that if I use my low boost setting. That's why God created sticky tires.

High boost setting and VP C16 on the street would mean I would need my slicks.

Oh, I could bump it up another couple hundred HP if I wanted, but I like the way it drives and it's still faster then most cars on the road :)

I do NOT know cars, all I know is that the car mags seem to wonder in every issue why folks are still paying above sticker prices for this car....

The Shelby's are ok.  But, if you actually want performance out of one, do what others are saying, and buy a base GT and build it up.  IF you want the looks of the shelby, and gotta have the Shelby name on it, then...well, yeah.  Gotta buy the real deal, don't want to be a poser with a fake Shelby.  But, there are a bazillion different body kits, hoods, scoops, etc etc that you can use to build a unique stang of your own.

I would really love to trade in my 06 V6 on a Bullitt.  I love the debadged sleeper look, not to mention that the Bullitt actually has some significant improvements on it, making it 'worth' the money.  But, gas is getting pricey, and I have an absurdly long commute, so I'll keep my current pony for now.

it is a myth that GT's get much worse gas mileage then the V6.  it is all in how you drive it
