These are Roadracers from Texas I knew a few years ago.

Brian Hansen,  Raced endurance and sprint.

Bill Comegys, Owns Grand Prix Motorspots here in Denver

Damon Harvey,  Worked at Grand Prix.  May have worked at Plano Honda after he left here,

I dabbled in rr here in Modern Vintage.  Found out I was't very good at it and saved a small fortune quitting.

I prepped and pitted for a friend of mine.  He did pretty well and was 600 Super Bike #1 in 1993 IIRC

The older I get the faster I was!

Nope.  I'm an old guy, but I didn't start racing until I turned 40.  I got family in Texas, but I've never raced there.  I'm guessing those guys are probably all faster than me, too.

I enjoy pretty much all aspects of the sport.  In addition to racing and instructing, I've also served as a race official, and I have really enjoyed crewing on endurance teams.  I've even served as an umbrella stud muffin.

I'm pretty sure no photographic evidence has survived, and I care about you guys enough that I probably wouldn't post something like that anyway.

It was an unusual deal- it was probably in the upper 90s, and a racer had entered the track for his sighter lap right before the 30-second cut-off.  He threw it down on the back side of the track, and ended up on the track, causing a delay in the start of the race.  Pretty much all the other racers had already passed the hot pit lane entrance when he went down, so they were stuck on grid in the hot sun as the crash truck and ambulance went out to pick him up.

Crews dragged stands, extension cords, and tire warmers out onto the track, but there wasn't enough umbrella girls to go around.  My wife and a bunch of other girls went out, but there were still guys that were going to have a heat stroke if somebody didn't do something.

I had just come in off track and peeled off my leathers, so I was just cruising around on our Yamaha TTR90E pit bike and lounging in our pits, atired in my Quiksilver board shorts, Under Armour, a boonie hat, and my Alpinestars road racing boots- pretty goofy.  But at least I had cool sunglasses.

In all seriousness, I was more concerned about the other racers physical well-being than my own dignity, so I grabbed some cold drinks out of the cooler in our pits, my spare umbrella, and headed out onto the grid.  I passed out drinks to a couple of racers, and tried to shade the ones that looked most likely to need an IV within the next four laps.  We all kind of look out for each other, I just wasn't counting on having to embarrass myself to that degree to do it.

I checked.  It looks like everybody's retinas are safe- I couldn't find anything.

I found one embarrassing picture of myself in board shorts and a santa hat, but nothing to do with motorcycles.

Please don't post pictures of yourself... but all the other umbrella girls are okay to.

If I was sitting on a bike in full gear I wouldn't be too picky who was holding the umbrella

Oh yea,  The leather sauna.  I made the mistake of buying dark brown leathers.  It is amazing how quicly they got hot when out in the sun.  I had them perforated on the front side of the torso.  It made a huge difference when moving.

What part of the country and what club did you race with?  I raced here in Colorado with the MRA.  Motorcycle Roadracing Assn.  I ran from 1989 to 1994 at varying levels.
