I have a 2004 Dodge Ram that the parking lights are coming on for no apparent reason while it is turned off. They are real dim, and if I actually turn them on they get bright, like they should be. I can not get them off. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Wow, of all the wierd lighting problems ive ever heard, i dont know what to say about this.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be when it does it, to test all fuses and relays for a parasitic drain and see if somehow it may be grounding incorrectly or something.

also, if you have a remote starter, or remote keyless entry, make sure its working correctly too, because i guess it could have been installed incorrectly, and is whats making it light up, since they use the lights to signal door lock/unlock/engine start/stop.

Do they come one when you lock the doors or do they come on as soon as you shut off the vehicle?

It just came on when we were sitting outside. It had not been drove today. No keyless entry, no keyless start, no power options at all.

Look in the owners manual, see if it is some kind of warning. Other then that I'd say a bad light switch or a bad relay is the problem.

Nothing in the owners manual. Will replace relay tomorrow.

You have a "short to ground" condition. Most manufactures switch lights via ground circuit, usually a lighting controller. My first educated guess would be to start at the headlamp switch, then wiring integrity, then controller

Thank you very much for the advise, I will check it all tomorrow.
