I've got an 87 K5 Blazer, and the stereo system in it right now just isn't cutting it. I'm using the stock in dash speakers, and an old pioneer tape deck. I have an Alpine CDA-7894, and I'd like to get some speakers loud enough to listen to when I go down the freeway with the windows down. I'd prefer not to get an external amp as I do drive around with the top off. Any suggestions? 6x9 or 6s in the door is what I'm thinking but I'm open to all suggestions. I'd like to put a regular antenna on it and get rid of the crappy one in the windshield. Any suggestions for that as well would be great. :) Mike |
| Way back when I had a 88 K5 I put 6x9's in the doors & in the side panels above the rear wheel wells. I ran a number of amps but the speaker placement was good for use with out. If you don't want to cut the dash for radio fit, I removed the cup holder assembly from the console plated over the hole with AL 1/8" thick then mounted the radio in that. I took the cup holder & cut the trim off & reattached it on the console = good as new, easy to reach while driving. |
