| The ABS light on my blazer has been on the last few days. When I accelerate it makes a humming noise. Now the brakes will occasionally lock up when I'm driving it. Does anyone know what this could be and how to fix it. Any idea of the cost to fix it |
| Yeah check teh fuse first. If its good, try driving it around without the fuse in it (brakes will function like normal brakes but the ABS light will stay on with the fuse out). If teh noises and other issue stops, then you know its teh abs system for sure and not another brake issue. |
| Without knowing which blazer you have (full or midsize) and year, cant tell you directly. But theres 2 main places to look. 1st is either on the side of the dash (when the door is sut the fuse cover is hidden) or under the dash on the drivers side. Or 2nd under the hood in a big black box near the battery with a bunch of other fuses and relay. |
Wonder why!. haha, I like my 78 Bronco the 2 lights are a Brake light that probably doesn't work, and the other one is something else that isn't important |
IIRC: Right now you don't have ABS. If your brake light comes on get your brakes checked ASAP! Is your brake light on? GET YOUR BRAKES CHECKED BY A BRAKE SHOP OR TECHNICIAN ASAP! |
Its 99.9% a wheel bearing in the front that is bad. The way i tell wich one is, while driving slightly turn the wheel on way then the other, if the sound gets less when turning left, it is the left bearing because you just took some weight off of it. See when these bearings go bad they flake off some metal and it gets stuck on the sensor and makes the sensor think you are skidding. This activates the ABS and all kinds of shit starts happening. Yeah, taking the fuse out will stop the brake problem but what are you gonna do when the bearing totally fails, the wheel locks up or even comes off? |
