Tower is actually outside of town, closest I could get and safely park. Access road is gated. If its up to specs, next target is your bike and a National Park/Forest sign. |

been raining the last 2 days..plus there are no bus stops or bus stations in this podunk town..

It's only the first day of a 3 day weekend. Plus riding to a bus station generally involves riding to one of the seedier parts of town

True enough, but when I take a weekend ride I prefer to head to the middle of nowhere vs the inner city.

So, since everybody has to eat, let's try this. Target is a picture of your bike at any of the eatin' places listed on this site: http://ridetoeat.com/ Bonus points for a review. The food at these places is uniformly good to excellent, and the reviews were all done by real riders. I even did a couple. And there are usually good riding roads in the area, as well. If you have issues getting the site to load, try the .kmz file here: http://ridetoeat.com/rte.kmz It's got all the places listed on the website. Useable in Google Earth and other mapping programs. |

Well, fuck. Sorry about the tech issues, y'all.
Fine... Target, simplified: pic of bike at your favorite roadside food & drink stop. That work for everybody? |

For anybody who's interested...
The Ride to Eat website has apparently gone unmaintained/unloved for about 3 years. Too bad, really. It does have a bunch of good info. I used it a lot when I was traveling more & doing a bunch of long distance riding. I still keep the master list handy on my phone. The website won't open on my iPhone or my kid's Android phone, either, but it opens just fine on my laptop. The complete list list of stops is in the .kmz file here: http://ridetoeat.com/rte.kmz Google Earth on iPhone opens it just fine. Copy/paste the file URL into Safari, and you get this: Attached File Open it in Google Earth, and you get this: Attached File Zoom-and-tap gives you this: Attached File Again, sorry about the tech issues. |

I know we've moved on, but I couldn't resist a picture of the Houston Greyhound terminal. A wretched hive of scum and villainry.
I was accosted three times in the time it took to circle the McDonald's, park, and snap a shot. One tweaker, one whore/addict, and one armed security guard. Jeezus H. Attached File |

Honestly, I'm at a loss as to why somebody didn't swoop into a disused transit bus stop in a nicer part of town, snap a pic, and zoom. 30 seconds from feet down to done. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I am starting to feel singled out and discriminated against and that offends me.
First a phone app that didn't include Canada and now city limit signs with the population on it. We don't do that up here cause we don't care. I will be over there -----> in my safe space. |

I've been chomping at the bits to get in again. My 650r leaks oil like a Harley and sounds like its going to die. It's been making that sound for the last 7 months or so, so I keep it within the city limits because I refuse to dump another penny into this POS . 10 years and 70k miles and it's done for. I ain't sellin it for the time being, maybe I'll fix it and turn it into a track bike.
