I have a 96 F-250 and I'm going to swap a D60 into it, the 60 has 4.10 and mine has 3.55 gears. Any tips on getting a new 3.55 ring and pinion for my front? Im getting both front and rear both with 4.10's so for the time being I'll put both in and see how it drives compared to the 3.55's.
Thanks.

When I was doing the jeep/mudtruck/ off road thing I bought lots of gears from drive train direct.

Honestly though I'd keep the 4tens. Low gears are nothing to be scared of. Fuel mileage doesn't drop nearly as much as people think it does.

All depends on tire size. You want gears that will bring you back to the factory final drive ratio

Yeah gonna drive on them for a while and ill see how it does, as long as I can cruise at a decent rpm ill be fine. Im loooking into possibilities, may put some bigger tires on it and that would help. Should have the axles put on, on Friday.

I ran many miles in a Chev 1 ton, no overdrive, 4.56 gears, 30ish inch tires. Went down the road at pretty high rpms,  still got 10 mpg like it did with the 3.73s and the engine didn't mind it one bit.

4.10s will treat you good

Keep the 4.10 dump the 3.55.
4.10 really isn't THAT deep.

We have 3  94-96 f-350 wreckers with 4.10 gears.

Go with the 4 10s.

Installing new gears looks like a royal pain in the butt to do and hard to do right if you dont know what you are doing.

I can count the people I know who have re-geared higher with no fingers.

If you look around you should be able to find a complete axle with 3.55 in it already.

3.55 is a common size for Ford. Being the complete axle there is no gear setup to worry about

Are you swapping the front axle to get rid of the IFS Dana 50 axle?

I can't imagine why you would ever go with 3.55's. 4.10's will be fine for anything you want to do. You will not be able to pull much with 3.55's.

If you are dead set on it, don't waste your time or money. Sell the D60 for $900 and buy another D60 with 3.55's in it.

They aren't rare, and you'll sell it on the first day you put your ad up.

If you weren't 2000 miles away I'd trade you straight up for mine. 3.55's suck.
