I have a 2002 Ranger with roughly 55,500 miles on it.

It is serviced on a regular basis but obviously it sits a lot.

I was wondering if for preventive maintenance I should put a can of "something" in the tank to maybe clean the injection system and fuel system in general.

This is the 6 cylinder 4.0 L (I think)

Should I?

Any recommendation of product?

I like to wait till the gas tank gets to about 1/2 and then add a bottle of Techron.  Run the tank till it's as low as I dare and then fill up.

I also periodically do the same with Gumout Regain.

I also often clean the intake and spray some LMT into the intake while it's running.  My intake and injectors stay nice and clean.  Seems to be working for me.

I'm not a big fan of Seafoam.  There are some cleaning benefits I suspect but I believe that the Techron and the Regain have FAR more benefit for the $$ spent.

If it sits, I'd research using a marine Sta-Bil...I use Techron about every 5 to 8k.
"Bob is the Oil guy" might be a good place to search around...I gave up on Seafoam based on the info over there...
