My small utility trailer (5x10) has 5x5" hubs on it and I want to get hubs with a 5x4.5" bolt pattern so I can run a spare from one of our Fords, if we had too.  Plus, it's easier to get wheels, and we'd go with a 16" since all the cars have those and we would have an endless supply of tires for it.

The axle is what I presume, tapered (not tapered at all, but stepped).

It's 1.065" at the outboard bearing. 1.365" at the inner bearing and 1.720" at the inner seal.

So, would this be called a tapered axle?  And are Vortex Hubs good?

Not sure why I was thinking Vortex.  How about Tie Down Engineering's Super Lube Hubs?
