In my 2008 Silverado 1500 (5.3L Flex fuel with active fuel management), I was showing a code for a bad O2 sensor. It was the drivers side after the catalytic converter. After getting a factory OEM replacement and putting it on today (did both post catt sides) it is still showing the same code. For the check engine light to go off do I need to manually reset and remove the code (with my OBD2 reader) or will it go away on its own after a few drive cycles? Also I could not find any specs on how many foot pounds they should be tighten too. I just made them snug not super tight. Any help or experience would help thank you!

I replaced the passenger side one past the converter on my 08 Sierra about a month ago. Cleared the code with my reader after I finished. As for the torque spec's..I went really hand tight!

If the O2 sensor was the problem, the code will clear after a couple of drive cycles. If you have a way to clear, I'd go ahead and do it.

I just tighten the sensor down, until the crush washer is flat.

It will clear itself after a while.  If you have a code reader it will probably be able to clear it too.

You did antiseize the threads when you installed it, right?

It'll clear in a few cycles or take it to autozone and they can clear it for free.
