Anyone here clay bar? Is it worth it? Totally worth it if you plan on maintaining a nice paint finish. If you're one of those who wash their car 3-4 times a year and maybe choose the wax option at the gas station's car wash - not worth it. Wash car, twice, clay, polish, seal, and wax every spring. It's usually an all-day detail affair for me but with a little elbow grease I don't have to wax the car again until at least Halloween and even then water still beads really nice. With your garden variety cleaner wax, your car will look good for a couple weeks and then be back to looking like shit. If you do a thorough detail once a year, your car will look tits until it rusts out or some broad yappin' on the phone hits it. I use whatever clay I can get on sale and follow up with 3M paint sealant (synthetic wax). The 3M stuff is a godsend. Easily the best over the counter stuff I've ever used when it comes to protecting the paint. Easy to work with but would probably be useless if you didn't claybar the car 1st. |
