Howdy everyone. My buddies 09' Silverado 1500 has a recurring issue when it gets cold out. When the temp drops below 50, his fuel gauge stops working and after a while a CEL comes on because of it. He had the sending unit replaced last year but it still does it.
Any help? |

Take it to the dealer and complain. My headlights would blink intermittently on my 08 GMC that was out of warranty . My friend that works at a dealer said take it in their (GM) was taking heat on there service and was fixing everything in and out of date.
Long story short they replaced a wiring harness and battery for a 20.00 oil change. |

Does he have Onstar connected?
If he does, all he has to do is to push the button & ask while he is driving - they will put him on hold & run a check to see what code is being thrown. If not, has he checked his gas cap? A loose or damaged cap will throw an emissions code (not sure if it will affect the fuel gauge). |
