We have a 2000 Navigator (5.4L, 2wd, 4 speed w/ overdrive), and the transmission is stuck in park. I figured that maybe the driveline was binded, so I gave it a little tug and a little push to see if that would loosen it up, but that didn't work. It won't leave park at all, and yes, the brake pedal is being depressed. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Thanks for any help!

It might be the brake shift interlock keeping it in park and/or the brake switch is bad. Do the brake lights still come on when depressed?

Yeah, the brake lights come on. That was the first thing I checked. And thanks!

Any way to over ride it? I know in some vehicles, there is a shift interlock override button you can activate.

I'll look into that. Thanks! Please keep the suggestions coming, guys.

Have you tried shifting out of park with the engine off?

Yeah, in my frustration, I tried that by accident.

I figured it out! It was a blown shift interlock solenoid fuse. Thanks for all the help, guys!

That fuse probably blew because of chafed wiring at the base of the shifter handle.

Thanks. I'll try to take a look at that this weekend.
