The wife and I are in the market for something with a 3rd row and the Traverse has appealed to her. We currently own an '06 Accord and a '06 Trailblazer both of which are almost paid for and will more than likely trade in the Accord because the Trailblazer is 2WD.

Tell me why we shouldn't buy a Traverse, other than its .Gov Motors. If we could afford it, Im sure we would buy a Denali or a Nissan Armada because many of our friends have these and they are really nice.

If I was in the market for a car-like SUV with 3rd row seating, I would look closely at the Honda Pilot.  I would only consider buying a new GM if there was no other vehicle that fit my needs.

...but, it's your money.

We have a 2010 equinox, which is basically the same thing minus the 3rd row, and we love it. It handles very well in all conditions while getting great fuel mileage.

I have a buddy who works at a chevy dealership and according to him they cannot keep them on the lot as they are in high demand.

Not that it's worth much, but I accidently rented one a couple months ago.  It's not something I would buy for myself, but it looks to be a pretty practical vehicle.  Decent size, although not much room behind the third row for cargo.  Drove nice for the couple hundred miles I put on it.  If I were in the market for that type of vehicle, I'd consider it.

My parents, who have owned Suburbans for what seems to be the last 2 decades, got an Enclave..Pretty much the same thing but dressed up...To me it seemed to have much leg room in the middle and back rows then the suburban..obviously not as much cargo room or towing capacity of course..Steering was better then the suburbans as well. They got rid of it because constant transmission problems(AWD) models...The thing would miss shifts, and it had less than 12,000 miles..I drove it a couple times for long shifts, happened normally at 45-70 when downshifting or upshifting, it would just miss the shift...It would go to shift, then just stop, and go to high RPMs...dealer couldn't "replicate" the problem (they never can) after several times and many visits never got fixxed..........Parents now own a 2011 Expedition................................Im pretty sure they came out with a recall for it, but not positive..What im trying to say is, if you don't have this problem they're great...If you do...well, yeah. lol. Im not bashing on GM, im a GM guy here, just trying to help out...The Enclave was kind of the odd ball of all the GM vehicles my family has owned. Don't just take it from me, google Chevy Traverse transmission problems, or Buick Enclave transmission problems, and check out all the results you get.

I have driven a few rentals. They are nice. Lots of power, great handling, alot of room. The only thing I can not stand is the black cloth interior GM puts in all their cars. One with leather would be friggin awesome.

Thanks for all the comments. I plan to look at a Traverse and a GMC Acadia this Friday if time permits.

The reason this vehicle is on the radar is both the price and 3rd row seating. We really do not want a mini van nor do we want to spend more than $25,000 after a trade-in.
